Wedge Plate

An Optical Wedge (Wedge Plate) is a flat optical element with two surfaces intentionally polished at a small angle to one another, rather than perfectly parallel. This deliberate angular offset deviates a transmitted beam by a fixed, predictable amount, making wedges useful for beam steering, angular displacement, interference fringe control and as a wedge reference in metrology setups.
