Formerly Prisms India, now Plano Optics incorporated a Research & Development team in 2002. Since then the R&D team has been constantly involved in new product development Instruments that are not manufactured in India. Plano India also takes up the development of special-purpose Instruments and has pride in developing various products for BARC, DRDO Labs, IITs, and as well Machine Tool Industry.

With the constant development in various areas of measurements, Plano India has recently developed an Alignment Autocollimator for checking bores of machines and gearboxes and a grazing incidence Interferometer for checking lapped components by non-contact method.

Plano Optics Pvt. Ltd. is heading towards forming an Accreditation Laboratory in Pondicherry, India.
