Management
Mr. V. Jayaram
Managing Director and founder of Plano Optics, is a postgraduate in applied optics from Regional Engineering College, Warangal. His project on Holography and Interferometric Testing at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre marked the beginning of his optics journey. With over a decade of experience in lens manufacturing and marketing optics, he established Plano India in 1991, pioneering optical contact techniques and float polishing for high-tolerance optics. He also developed import-substitute instruments like Autocollimators and Fizeau Interferometers for the machine tool industry.
Mrs. Kalpana Jayaram
The dynamic Director of the company. She not only heads the marketing, administration, and human resources teams, but also brings a wealth of knowledge with her MPhil in Industrial Psychology. Her deep understanding of human behaviour and organizational dynamics enables her to seamlessly integrate strategic marketing initiatives, efficient administrative processes, and empathetic HR practices. Under her visionary leadership, the company thrives, cultivating a productive and harmonious work environment.Her dedication and expertise make her a standout leader, driving the organization towards greater success.

Mr. Sivaraman
Optical Metrology & Alignment Services
Mr. Sivaraman’s accomplishments and expertise are certainly impressive! His skill in producing a wide range of flat optics, from miniature 2mm prisms to substantial 400mm prisms, showcases his versatility and precision. Developing innovative inspection methods for customized optical components and focusing on crucial measurements such as flatness, angle, and size are testament to his meticulous attention to detail.
His extensive experience in providing advanced solutions for alignment and measurement in the machine tool industries, along with his capability to develop bespoke optical metrology equipment, highlight his commitment to delivering cutting-edge technology. Leading the R&D team at Plano Optics, he’s driving significant enhancements in high-precision measurement systems and innovative design tailored to specific industrial needs.
Mr. Harsh
Optics Design & Development
Mr. Harsh has an impressive background in Physics, Opto-Electronics, and Laser Technology. His expertise seems to be quite comprehensive and diverse, especially in developing optical instruments and the corresponding software for Plano Optics. He is instrumental in working with projects, like spectrometer design and development, software for autocollimators, and software for interferometry, highlight his significant contributions to the field. He is also well versed in Optical design software. Along side Mr. Sivaraman, he is working towards design and development of new and scalable products for us.
Mr. T Kandhan
Coating Department
Mr.T Kandan : The coating department at Plano Optics Pvt. Ltd. flourishes under the leadership of Mr. T Kandan, whose vast overseas experience in coating techniques significantly enhances our operations. His experience in working with optical firms in Singapore have enriched our knowledge base with diverse coating methods.
With around 12 years of experience in thin film optical coatings, including a fruitful association with us for the past 3 years in Puducherry, India, Mr. T Kandan has successfully managed various responsibilities. These include technical analysis and characterization, problem-solving and optimization (with a focus on coating machine maintenance), production, process development, machine configuration and installation, and thorough documentation and training.
He is well-versed in various coating techniques such as Electron Beam gun Deposition, Sputtering, and Plasma Assisted Deposition Techniques. Mr. T Kandan applies his vast knowledge to coating processes from the visible to the IR region, ensuring high-quality results and continuous innovation in our practices.
Praveen Kumar
Quality Department
Mr. A. Praveen Kumar heads our entire production and quality department. Holding a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, he boasts over a decade of rich experience in the manufacture and supply of optical components to Indian defence establishments, as well as firms in both the public and private sectors. With extensive experience in handling optical and metrology instruments such as Autocollimators and Fizeau Interferometers, Mr. Praveen Kumar ensures our adherence to stringent quality checks that meet international standards. He is certified in ISO 9001: 2015 and has successfully completed internal auditor training for laboratory management. His expertise spans across production planning, manpower handling, costing, new product development, and creating process charts and drawings for optical components. Mr. Praveen Kumar is proficient in design software like SolidWorks and AutoCAD. Additionally, he has strong knowledge in managing projects for various defence departments such as ELOIRA and ASL Moreover, he oversees coordination with customers on techno commercial aspects.
Satish Kumar
Opto Mechanical Design
Mr.A Satish Kumar: our Designer, Mr. Satishkumar, is a highly competent individual responsible for creating, analysing and upgrading mechanical systems, optical devices. They work across a variety of industries, including automotive, Mold and die casting, hydraulics and pneumatics, manufacturing, injection moulding, and optical instrumentation, helping to develop new solutions that meet customer and business needs. Their knowledge extends from basic conceptual design to advanced engineering, ensuring the functionality, efficiency, and durability of the mechanical systems they build. Their primary responsibilities include conceptual design, design analysis, prototyping and testing, CAD modelling and drafting, material selection, cross-functional team collaboration, cost estimating and budgeting, and ongoing improvement.
He has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and is proficient in CAD tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA and Delcam (Programming Software).
